As New Yorkers return to work, maintaining workforce safety and wellness is a top priority for employers and employees, alike.
According to a recent survey from Eagle Hill Consulting, half of U.S. employees have expressed concern about COVID-19 exposure at their jobs. However, 71% have confidence their employers can bring them back to work safely. Factors including the availability of personal protective equipment like masks and hand sanitizer, making COVID-19 tests available, and mandating that employees with symptoms stay home, are key factors in creating employee confidence.
But what about the actual physical workplace?
At WestPark, we believe that safety and wellness should go far beyond frequent cleaning of high-touch areas and one-way hallways.
When we began reimagining WestPark in the spring of 2020, we wanted to bring the most modern, most innovative, trophy-Class-A headquarters location to market. It was at the height of the coronavirus pandemic in the metro-New York area, so safety and wellness were key values in our decision making. Knowing that many more companies would now be eyeing convenient and safe suburban locations, our innovation team got to work. The team decided on a Smart Campus transformation project that would cause WestPark to morph from a desirable trophy headquarters location to one of the most high-tech office campuses in the United States.
Keeping employee health at the forefront of our planning, the WestPark Smart Campus transformation project includes the following safety and wellness features:
- Touchless entry
- Touchless turnstiles
- Touchless elevators (planned)
- Touchless restrooms
- Fresh air ventilation
- Big, airy indoor spaces
- Four-story walk-up options
- Healthful indoor/outdoor dining options (outdoor planned)
- Modern fitness center
- Outdoor work/meeting spaces
- Ample surface parking
- And more
Additionally, if some employees need to stay at home for extended periods of time, the campus has a powerful data center and fiber-optic connectivity to harmonize remote, distributed, and on-site workforces.
